Being slim and sexy has always been every woman's dream especially since in this day and age we can hardly find clothes tailored for those whose body sizes are somewhat above average. It has become the modern definition of a woman. She has to have a beautiful body and beautiful means being slim. However, this dilemma doesn't only affect women; it also affects men. It is undeniable that we also see men who are twice the regular size. Although they may not try to show it, they are also struggling with their weight. For those having this kind of problem, it would be heart wrenching for them to see people who are able to maintain a healthy weight and because of this they would rather lock themselves up. People who are overweight tend to be insecure, especially in today's world where other people tend to belittle them. Losing weight may be a challenge but it is not an endeavour that is impossible to surpass. In order to successfully lose weight, it would be advisable to know first the reasons why losing weight sometimes ends up in failure. 1. Feeling driven eating spree When you are depressed, you eat. When you are happy, you eat. When you are stressed out or angry, you eat. This is actually one of the basic reasons why some people never lose weight. Making your feelings as an excuse to eat will not only keep you from your goal of losing weight but it will also put all of your efforts in vain. The more you eat the more calories you get. When these calories are stored instead of burned, it will then turn into fat. 2. Unrealistic diet plan This takes place when you set goals that are quite impossible for you to achieve or do. An example of an unrealistic diet plan is when you try to cut off soda totally for instance. You know that this is very hard unless you do it gradually. Or another example would be when you set a very short time frame for you to lose a particular weight. Setting up an unrealistic diet plan will only lead to disappointment and eventually discouragement. 3. Reducing too many calories Doing with this will starve your body of the calories it needs in order to generate energy. Cutting off too many calories from your diet will only lead to binges. As mentioned, calories are the body's source of energy and without these calories your body will starve. So in order to compensate for this you will end up eating more than expected. 4. Lack of Support Can you imagine struggling with your weight and having no one to talk to? As mentioned earlier weight loss doesn't happen over night and these weight loss programs will really take some time before one can see any results. Because of this, there may be times when you will feel that the program is no longer working and having no one to talk to and no one to encourage you will only let you give up and drop the program. 5. Leaving Breakfast out This is a big no-no as breakfast is your energy meal. Skipping this meal will only lead to a huge intake of lunch or dinner therefore piling up more calories. There's no need to worry about having a heavy breakfast. You will just burn most of the caloric content of the meal as the day progresses. 6. Not Taking Note of the Food You Eat Not keeping track of the food you eat will surely take you nowhere. If you don't mind what you eat, then your weight loss program is bound to fail. By keeping a list of the food you take in, you will be able to know which food to cut down and which food to avoid. With a list, you will also be able to compute an estimated caloric content. 7. Shying away from your favorites Your favourite food is right there in front of you and you try to stop yourself from taking a piece. Well this may work the first time but in the future you won't be able to resist. You're bound to have another bout of binge eating. Losing weight doesn't necessarily suggest that you deprive yourself of the foods you love to eat. All you have to do is eat in small portions. In this manner, it will keep you from craving more. Losing weight is more than just dieting. It takes understanding and determination plus exercise. Having a clearer view on the reasons why some programs fail will really help you as you take on the challenge of putting off those unwanted pounds. |
